“I’ve Made Some Mistakes” Watch Tiwa Savage’s Open & Honest Speech to Teenagers in Uganda
#LetGirlsLead! On 8th March 2015, Tiwa Savage spoke to hundreds of young people about Teenage Pregnancy, pursuing your dreams and hope after pregnancy.
According to Reach a Hand Uganda, the organization behind the event, use of role models like Tiwa to take the message to these young people has proved effective because when the students hear the people they look up to reaffirm the best Safe Reproductive Health practices, they are transformed.
“Life is about planning ahead, so if you as a young person do not plan for parenthood, you will always be dependent on other people and unable to break out of the cycle of poverty. It is not good to keep on being helpless – we have to take responsibility for our lives.” said Tiwa.
RAHU reaches out to young people with knowledge on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) as well as HIV.
Their message to the youth is simply, “Delay sex or use contraceptives if you really have to have sex”, also highlighting that Teenage Pregnancy is not a girls issue but one that affects each and everyone one of us.
