TWO men George Njeri and Caleb Idris CHARGED for being HOMOSEXUAL and pornography
Two men charged with engaging in unnatural sexual acts and trading obscene material were granted Sh200,000 bond each on Tuesday.
George Njeri and Caleb Idris allegedly committed the acts, with another person not in court, between February 2 and 17 at Tandoori area in Ukunda.
The court further heard that they were found with two CDs containing pornographic material intended for “public exhibition” on February 18.
Njeri and Idris denied the charges before Kwale resident magistrate Christine Njagi.
Njagi warned against publication of the “false” claim that that the two are married.
Their representative, KHRC’s Martin Pepela, had asked for reasonable bail terms saying they are not financially stable.
Pepela further assured that they will not miss any hearing.
State prosecutor George Mungai however asked for a surety to guarantee their appearances, saying they have no official address.
In response, Pepela said they have have a right to live anywhere.
“My clients look unwell and they have constitutional rights to bail. They need to seek medical attention and to enjoy their rights as Kenyan citizens,” he said.
The case will be heard on May 16.
